Just when I worry that the police aren’t doing enough about cockfighting in Ontario I read this. What a relief.
Yesterday I made a day-trip to Munich to meet with nine other people to discuss a topic that I have no expertise in. In honestly didn’t go that bad; I was happy to contribute to a group other than my usual one, even if some of it was just playing the middle man.
I have been given “Der Große Ausverkauf” (the Big Sellout) to watch. A little documentary to add some variety to the series of movies I watched this weekend. I am looking forward to it.
I have been invited to a Thermomix party on Friday. It will be in German, of course, but I am hopeful that the products will speak for itself. I’d never heard of the Thermomix before (which might come as no surprise, as I’m not a corner-cutter in the kitchen) but apparently the women rave about it here. There’s no pricing information online either, which should tell you something.
I have invited some people over for pancakes next Tuesday–Pancake Day. They don’t really have pancakes here so it is an exciting thing for me to share. I will be looking for a good recipe shortly and doing a trial run this weekend so as to not disappoint my guests.
What is quite exciting about Pancake Day is that it marks the day before the beginning of Lent. And Lent is the countdown to Easter. And by the time Easter comes along Katy and I will be in England. This is very exciting.
(And in all seriousness, cockfighting is not cool. Good work breaking that up.)
Pwncakes
Dry Ingredients
1 C flour
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
Wet ingredients
1 egg
1 cup milk
1 tbsp unsweetened applesauce
1 tsp of oil
sprinkle of cinnamon
Mix wet ingredients, and then add the dry ingredients to form a smooth batter.
Cook in a dry pan, flipping when bubbles form on the top side.
Makes about 8-10 pancakes.
Note, the apple sauce is used in place of most of the oil. A little bit of oil is required pour la chimie.
WOOT!
I was going to reccomend a pancake recipe but Serdic beat me to it. The one I have is very simlar to that one. Good luck!
