Dear Internet:
I need your advise. Nine Inch Nails is touring Europe this summer and it the so-called “final tour”; at the very least, it should be the last tour NIN will do for a while. So I would like to see them.
Luckily, Europe is relatively small so I have a few options. It is great to have options but none of them are spectacular, so I come to you. I would like to collect opinions, points of view, etc. on the various options so I can make a decision on how I would like to proceed.
1. Southside Festival
The Southside Festival is happening less than 200 km from where I live. It is a 3-day music festival featuring loads of bands. €110 for all three days, camping and parking included. A pretty great deal, but I only really want to see NIN. I’m not equipped to camp, nor do I think it would be that interesting to do alone. Also, NIN is a 90 minute set at 00:30 – 02:00 late Saturday night.
2. Berlin
Tuesday night show. Slightly more appealing because it’s Berlin. €100 to fly there and back, €50 for the show. I could make a weekend out of it. This is the most appealing option right now, but the idea of travelling alone sucks.
3. Paris
Tuesday night show again, but I could easily take the train there on Tuesday and back on Wednesday morning. Train, hotel, concert would probably be around €150.
So, what do you think Internet? Do you have any input that will lock me into any of these options?
Update: NIN just announced a show in Madrid, Spain on July 30. This seems like the answer to my question!
Paris is a sewer.
Can’t offer much advice about Berlin, last time I was in Germany it was still ground zero of dubya dubya three. It does sound like the most cost-efficient approach, though, and there’s lots to see and do there for the rest of your weekend.
Berlin. Alone. Patrick Bateman would have seen Hewy Lewis and the News on his own – you can see NiN on your own.
Actually, Bateman hates live music, but I appreciate what you were trying to do.
Thanks for the feedback so far. I welcome more of it!
Berlin. Makes the most sense. Would probably be the least stressful and most pleasent option, based on the information given. Besides, a weekend in Berlin by yourself might be fun!
No matter where you go though, you’ll still get to see NIN and that’s awesome.
