Hello, world. Here are some general updates.
Last night I woke my motorcycle from hibernation. Immediately it felt familiar and comfortable. I took it around the block a few times, as did Adam J., and it was generally a great experience. I rode to work this morning and the weather was beautiful. It was [...]

Next month my brother-from-a-different-mother, Will, and I are going on a road trip. I’m actually really excited about the trip and I’ll tell you the reason that you might find most interesting: we have next to nothing planned. It will be a classic road trip with a menial goal and a lot of time.

When I was with Katy in London I would point out the Starbucks that was visible from every entrance to the Tube. When Evan, Matt, Kevin, and I are in Prague we would “Czech In” every morning to Starbucks in Wenceslas Square. Last winter Adam, Eric, and I would enjoy the occasional 7 a.m. Starbucks trip before work. I visited Jill many times at Starbucks, even sharing her excitement in having some of her photos on display there. A photo of Tiffany is on display in the very Starbucks that she so happily works at. Muis, Foran, Gilles, Misha, Gervais, Joel, and I will relieve our minds from the grip of work with the occasional trip to the Starbucks a mere 300 metres walk from the office. My first apartment was right over a Starbucks in Kingston.

Ottawa is looking pretty nice at the moment. Beautiful snow is falling, and the temperature is a pretty mild -6. I’m wearing my “let it snow” underwear. If only the Rideau Canal was open for skating.
Guten Rutsch!

I am faced with a difficult challenge: a year in 100 photographs.
Before I left Ms. Kirkey was kind enough to prepare for me a photo album with a collection of photos of friends and family. I kept this photo album on my coffee table the entire time I was in Germany. It was [...]

Here’s a flickr set of some Madrid photos. It was hot, but nice. The metro is awesome. The food is okay, but not the best–maybe I just didn’t know where to eat. Though I will say the seafood was really good. An old city with some good history. And the Spaniards are really proud [...]

I write to you from my Superior Room with Castellana Ave. View in the luxurious Hesperia Madrid. I am enjoying a complimentary Granny Smith apple (they literally have a bowl of them by the elevator on each floor) as I draw my second bath of the evening. My comfort is maximized by the provided [...]

A trying week of highs and lows, cultural understanding, pain, destruction, and triumph: the Alpencross was a great success. Eight brave people began a quest from Oberstdorf Germany to Lago di Garda over seven days. Though we only arrived seven in numbers our early departure was expected and we successfully delivered all willing participants to the destination. Read on for the story of the 2009 Alpencross. You can also see a collection of low-resolution photos in my flickr set.

And I’m off: going to pay my taxes, then to Karlsruhe for a train to Oberstdorf. Tomorrow morning we leave for seven full days across the Alps though Austria and Switzerland to finish in Torbole at the North of Lago di Garda at the end of next Thursday (expected). In Italy until Saturday, then [...]

These things include, but are not limited to: – buying some Adidas trainers – visiting the Canadian Vimy Memorial – spend a weekend in Berlin – visit Munich again, hopefully for work – buying a set of Professional S Henckel [...]
